Well I’m delighted to be posting the details of my first solo exhibition, EXPRESSIONS OF COLOUR & LIGHT. Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery have kindly invited me to exhibit my liquid polymer and acrylic works that I have been developing over recent years. The works are abstract and semi-abstract contemporary paintings, only a handful of which, have been seen anywhere before. The preview is on the 14th of January 2017 starting at 2pm until 4pm to take advantage of the limited daylight at this time of year. The exhibition will run for a month, finishing on the 18th of February 2017 and entry is free so make a date in your diary to come and see some bright and colourful paintings that will chase away the winter blues. I’ll also be doing a demonstration of the techniques I use to create these works on Saturday 28th January so if you would like to come along to the demo’ please book by calling the gallery on 0161 474 4453.
Running at the same time will be Heart of Glass, a costume and textile show by Yvonne Noworyta and Lesley Crowley-Bull, and a watercolour series by Jean Mayo so there will be lots of exciting works to see during your visit.
I’ve been really busy experimenting and developing my techniques using liquid polymers and acrylic paints over the last few months and I’m delighted to announce that I will be exhibiting a new show of these artworks in Stockport Art Gallery in January 2017. There will be some pieces that have been seen on the website but most will be new and exiting works that I have developed over the last few months in my attic studio. Preview dates will follow shortly but please make a note to come and see some stunning new works and if you call at the weekend I will be doing a demonstration.

I’ve finally been able to add several new works to the website today, so you can now feast your eyes on my latest works in a style and medium that I have been exploring over the last year. I have been experimenting using liquid polymers and different consistencies of acrylic paints to create a new range of pictures that I find very exciting. The vividness of the colours and amazing variety of textures I have been able develop with these methods has produced some thrilling results.
I have also been trying out some mixed media and have had some success, you can see two of the results on the site so take a look. Certainly not my usual style, but bright colours have attracted me lately, so prepare to be surprised.
I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do and if you want to see some of them up close, go to Glossop Art Gallery at the Indoor Market, open Thurs to Sat every week.

And now a little about myself. I was always the artist of the family and spent most of my young days drawing and painting, entering every competition I could find and winning a few. I had a great friend and professional artist as a neighbour and he helped to guide me on my way. My works got bigger as I progressed and I remember having to take off my bedroom door to enter it into one competition. After painting my bedroom walls with a vintage car in a field of daffodils that blended into a scene of Carthage Bay I found I had no space left and went on to paint scenery for a number of locally produced shows.
I attended Manchester University and went on to work in finance for a number of years, then I spent some time in France but I always managed to keep my art going and I have been extremely lucky to find a thriving art community where I live, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Naturally one cannot help but be inspired by our wonderful scenery and I have been joyfully painting scene after beautiful scene, and then going back to them as the seasons change, to see another aspect of the view.
I am member of our local Art Society and a number of local art groups where I demonstrate some artistic techniques. I have been lucky enough to exhibit in the Stockport Contemporary Art Exhibitions, at Holmfirth Art Week, The Derbyshire Open Arts Competition and have won a number of awards and sold paintings, in local exhibitions in the High Peak Area.
I hope you will enjoy looking through my work and the works of those who will come later. I normally only work in originals, however I have recently made contact with a great artist who produces his own prints so watch this space, there may be some prints available in the new year.
